All You Need to Know About Business Degrees

Are you interested in studying for a business degree? It’s a choice many people make, especially those looking to enhance their careers or seeking a change of direction.

Business degrees take many forms and cover a variety of subjects. We want to show you how a business degree can help you move forward in your chosen career path or change your desired direction.

Why Study for a Business Degree?

Whether you are already working in the world of business and commerce or are interested in a career in this sphere, studying for a business degree will give you a head start when finding the right job.

What sort of careers can a business degree lead to? Here are a few areas where such a qualification is attractive to employers:

-          Sales and marketing roles require a knowledge of how businesses are run, and a business degree will give a strong grounding in this area.

-          Management roles are a direction that some students of business degrees aim for, and the primary and more intricate areas of managing a business will be learned when studying a business and management degree.

-          Accounting and finance roles usually require a business and finance degree to bachelor’s or master's degree level as these roles are highly specialist.

-          IT management and related roles may also require a business degree of some form.

These are a few examples and not a complete list. A business degree will often be paired with another subject area – business and finance, as mentioned, or business management, business and IT, and others. Any business degree will give the student a firm grounding in many areas of business and management and will be viewed favorably by potential employers.

Choosing a Business Degree

A bachelor’s degree will usually involve four years of study. There are options regarding where and when you can study for a business degree. If you are employed full time and want to further your career, the online method may be attractive.

An online degree allows the student to study in their own time. If you are looking to study full time, a campus-based program may be more suitable. The digital age has brought learning in the home to many people, and it is certainly worthy of consideration.

A second option is to begin your studies with an associate degree. This is a two year foundation that, once completed, can be converted into a bachelor’s degree with a further two years study at a university. This is a cheaper option than a four-year university course and can be a good starting point for a career change.

Choosing the right business degree is not a decision to take lightly. If you know your future career path and are ready to commit, it is recommended you appropriate research degrees that apply to your chosen area of study. A business degree is a step towards a more fulfilling and satisfying future.

Our history is tied to America’s success

American International College (AIC) was founded on July 18, 1885. It was chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on September 18, 1885, with the purpose of educating immigrants who were coming to America through New York. That’s where our commitment to diversity, flexibility, and understanding began. They came to America to pursue a dream and AIC was founded to ensure their success.

AIC Today

American International College is a private, coeducational, four-year comprehensive institution located in the geographic center of Springfield, Massachusetts. Liberal arts serves as the core of our academic offerings. The College comprises the School of Business, Arts & Sciences, the School of Education, and the School of Health Sciences.

American International College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.).

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

Accreditation by the Commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.
